National Dog Show Judging Format

Following the release of the judging schedule for NDS 2022 we wish to ensure that the process for Group judging and Best In Show judging is clear for both the Ardmore Show and the National Dog Show, as these two shows will follow different formats.

National Dog Show Judging
All group judging for NDS will be conducted on Saturday the 8th October. This means that all Best of Breed winners and all Class of Breed winners will be required to return for group judging on the Saturday. All Group winners will progress through to BIS judging. All groups will be judged using the BOG 1, 2, 3, 4 process with only the Group 1st winners progressing to BIS judging.

All other age classes will be judged, unless they are eliminated by a dog in the same class winning BOG 1,2,3 or 4. From the Spey & Neuter classes, only the group winner will progress to BIS judging which will also follow the 1st to 4th at NDS BIS level.

Ardmore Show Format
All group judging will be conducted on the day your breed has been scheduled. These group’s will be judged using the standard judging format with Best of Group and Reserve Best of Group awards and then Class of Group awards. The Group winner’s, including reserve of Group and all Class of Group winners will be required to return for BIS judging which will be conducted on Saturday the 8th October.

Spey & Neuter classes will have both a Best & Reserve of group awards however for the Ardmore BIS of this class, only the winner will be required to return for finals judging as only a Neuter BIS winner will be awarded.

Stakes Classes
The stakes heats will all be judged on the day the breed is judged. Only the selected exhibits will be required to return for finals judging on Saturday the 8th October.

In simple terms, if you win at the NDS show, your group will be judged on Saturday the 8th October. For the Ardmore Show, the group will be judged on the day of exhibition.

Ardmore and NDS BIS judging is on Saturday the 8th October. Detailed timings for all days will be provided once entries have been fully collated.
